Schenectady, NY - Cage Wars 70 at Armory Studios in Schenectady grew attendance by 600 people following a controversial end to their residency at Rivers Casino.
A crowd of 1,400 cheered throughout a fight card that featured nine amateur fights and a professional main event with Cole Alaxanian winning a unanimous decision against Isaiah Monroe.
“I was happy to see 600 more people at Cage Wars since we left Rivers Casino,” said new owner Anthony Constantino, who stepped in to buy the company that he felt was unfairly targeted as punishment for his politics.
Constantino was previously the largest sponsor of Cage Wars who had a peak capacity of 800 people while at Rivers Casino. Rivers abruptly canceled Cage Wars’ residency following a conversation with Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara who attacked Constantino’s involvement in the popular event.
Since purchasing Cage Wars, Constantino vowed to make it a top entertainment event for New York and delivered by bringing Porsche Truck Ruk and Cory Gunz to perform “Risk It All” and “Get The Money” to an energized crowd.
Recently, Constantino scored another win by executive producing “In Da City” by Porsche Truck Ruk and Jadakiss which exploded to 1+ million listens on YouTube its first month out. In the octagon, local fan favorite Alaxanian won the headline pro fight by unanimous decision, to the delight of his large, enthusiastic fan base. Other highlights included a thrilling victory by Amsterdam’s Anthony Kelly, another crowd favorite, over Canadian fighter Michael Gomes.
Constantino learned much from his first Cage Wars event and noted immediate opportunities to improve by upgrading the food, parking, pricing and acoustics.
“We have a bigger venue now and want to fill it while delivering a great experience for all who attend. We already lowered pricing to make the next Cage Wars even bigger,” said Constantino.
Cage Wars’ General Manager Tim Rankins was similarly enthusiastic about the future. “Cage Wars 70 was a huge success,” Rankins said. “We thank all the fighters and fans and look forward to our next big show on July 19.”
